Bush Organics
Wild Harvest Olive Oil, by Bush Organics, is a family business run by Phil and his family, who harvest olives from wild trees and abandoned groves in the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. They hand-pick olives from clean environments free from sprays and pollution, transporting them in repurposed hessian sacks to be cold-pressed within two days of harvest. Their harvesting method not only produces award-winning, unfiltered extra virgin olive oil but also helps protect native vegetation by preventing olive germination, as olives are considered a declared weed in South Australia.
The family operates across multiple locations, living and working on remote areas with particular focus on Kangaroo Island. They work with guidance from Traditional Owners and Community to honour and care for the land. Their olive oil production uses optimum press facilities to ensure quality, resulting in unfiltered oils that retain full nutrients and distinctive flavour.
Beyond olive oil, the family produces honey from native flora in biodiverse endemic bushlands on Kangaroo Island. They extract honey by hand from wooden hives without heat or electricity, using traditional methods to preserve natural enzymes, probiotics, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. They also organically grow medicinal flowers and herbs, which they handcraft into salves and soaps using beeswax, propolis and their wild harvest olive oil. Additionally, they make solid beeswax candles that emit a bright golden light. Phil regularly sells their products at local markets alongside Bush Organics Kangaroo Island.'
