Where the oil comes from
Tasmania's cool climate supports a small olive oil industry, with groves in the Tamar and Derwent valleys, the East Coast, the Coal River Valley and the north west.
Frantoio is the cultivar most growers plant. Harvest is a winter job, and May/June is when most fruit has been collected.
The oils here belong to named groves such as Riverstone, Wattle Hill and Village Olive Grove.
