Wild Harvest
Wild Harvest is a family-run olive oil producer operating on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. Phil and his family harvest olives from wild trees and abandoned groves in equal proportions, which assists in managing feral olive trees that are classified as a pest species in the area. They use battery-powered rakes and traditional harvesting methods, transporting olives in repurposed hessian sacks and processing them within two days at Diana Olive Oil in Willunga.
The business has operated for over 25 years, working with Traditional Owners and local communities on land management. Wild Harvest produces unfiltered extra virgin olive oils that have received industry awards. Annual releases feature different varieties, with label colours indicating harvest timing: Green (early-picked), Burgundy (when fruit is purple), Black (darker, black fruit), and Gold (fully ripened fruit producing golden oil). Labels feature abstract designs of olive flowers and leaves.
Under the Bush Organics brand, the family produces honey from Ligurian bees, extracting it from wooden hives without heat or electricity. They also cultivate medicinal plants for use in salves, soaps, and beeswax candles, incorporating their olive oil into these products. Olives unsuited for EVOO are used in skincare products.
Products are sold through local markets and online sales.
