Village Olive Grove
Village Olive Grove is a family-run olive oil producer in Grindelwald, Tamar Valley, Tasmania, established in 2005. The grove is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Grindelwald in the Tamar Valley, northern Tasmania. The climate and soil of this pristine valley are ideally suited to olive growing.
They grow 830 Frantoio olive trees, a Tuscan variety well known for its high quality oil, planted between 2005 and 2006, with their first harvest in 2011. Harvests occur in June, with family and friends gathering to pick the fruit. The Baird family—Allen and Barbara, Murray and Rosemary—take the olives directly to the local olive press just down the road to ensure freshness.
Their oil has a medium to robust flavour and has won multiple awards across Australian competitions every year since 2017, including gold and silver honours at the Australian International Olive Awards, Australian Golden Olive Awards, Tasmanian Fine Food Awards, Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards, and Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. In 2017, they won Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Tasmania.
They sell EVOO in the following sizes: 100ml ($11), 250ml ($22), 500ml ($33), 750ml ($44), 1 litre ($55), 3 litre ($120), and 5 litre ($150). Available online and at local markets like Launceston Harvest Market. The 2025 season oil has sold out, with more expected in 2026 after the June harvest.
The Baird family focuses on tradition, quality, and community in their small-scale production.
