The English Olive Co.

The English Olive Co. is the Hoyles family's olive-growing project in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, at 52.7° north. The family has farmed in the Lincolnshire Fens for more than 250 years and planted 18,000 olive trees across 25 acres in spring 2024 to establish the UK's first commercial olive grove and the world's most northerly commercial olive grove.

The grove is managed without insecticides or fungicides, using water-efficient drip fertigation to deliver water and nutrients precisely to each tree. The first olive harvest took place in December 2025, producing the family's first English olive oil.

The grove contains ten olive cultivars: four main varieties planted in blocks and six trial varieties planted in single rows; they were selected for cold tolerance, slightly later flowering and early maturation to suit Lincolnshire's climate.
