Peninsula Providore produces award-winning extra virgin olive oil from their 17,000 olive trees spread across two groves on the Fleurieu Peninsula, about an hour south of Adelaide, South Australia. The business began in 2015 when they purchased their first olive grove in Currency Creek with Kalamata, Manzanillo, and Corregiola varieties, followed by the acquisition of Nangkita Olives in 2019, which added Koroneiki, Pendolino, Barnea, Leccino, and Frantoio varieties to their portfolio. Their olives are mechanically harvested at the optimal time and cold-pressed within 24 hours at their on-site mill, preserving freshness and quality. Owner Mel Hollick brings over 20 years of wine industry experience to the olive oil production process, applying small-batch techniques and attention to detail. Their product range includes their standard Peninsula Providore Extra Virgin Olive Oil with grassy green notes, and a special Reserve version produced only in remarkable years, offering a complex peppery, rocket/arugula flavour profile. Peninsula Providore is committed to regenerative farming practices, sustainability, and collaboration with local producers, with a farm shop open to visitors on the first weekend of each month.
