Olive2oil
Tauherenikau Olives Ltd., operating as Olive2Oil, is a family-owned producer based near the Tauherenikau Racecourse and River, nestled on flat, fertile land between Martinborough, Featherston, and Greytown. The grove cultivates seven olive varieties—Barnea (Israel), Koroneiki (Greece), Manzanillo (Spain), Frantoio, Pendolino, and Leccino (Italy), and Picholine (France)—each shaped by local soil and climate conditions. Olives are hand-harvested by family and friends, then cold-pressed within hours at a Greytown-based facility to maintain freshness and flavour integrity. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks and bottled to order, minimising exposure to oxygen. Olive2Oil’s blends have earned recognition at the Olives NZ EVOO Awards, including a 2021 Gold Medal for its Picholine/Koroneiki blend, noted for floral and peppery notes, and a 2022 Silver Medal for a balanced Grove Blend of Picholine, Koroneiki, and Leccino. The company exclusively produces 100% New Zealand extra virgin olive oil, with annual yields influenced by seasonal growing conditions.
