Olive Boutique Riebeek Kasteel was established in 2000 in the Riebeek Valley, Western Cape, by Derek van der Riet and Susan Aird. The business operates in a region where olive cultivation began in the 1970s, initially as a complement to existing grape and fruit crops. It provides contract olive pressing services using a cold-press method (below 30°C) with equipment sourced from Italy, supporting local producers while making its own oil blends. Oils are produced from Swartland-grown olives, primarily cultivated in non-irrigated Mediterranean-climate orchards. Cultivars include Leccino, Frantoio, Coratina, and Nocellara, with both single-varietal and blended oils available. The company’s EVOO range has earned multiple SA Olive Awards, including gold and silver medals in 2024, developed in collaboration with farmer Freddie Kirsten of Zonquasdrift. Alongside oils, Olive Boutique offers cured table olives, olive pastes, and body care products, leveraging olive oil’s traditional skincare benefits. The business adheres to the South African Olive Commitment to Compliance seal, ensuring traceability and quality standards. Fresh oils are released annually by August/September, reflecting seasonal harvest variations.
