Lauriston Grove, established in the late 20th century by the Linardi family, is one of Tasmania’s earliest olive groves. Located on the coastal isthmus of Hope Beach, South Arm, it benefits from coastal breezes, sea mist, a cool climate, and well-drained soils. The grove uses organic methods to grow four olive varieties: Frantoio, Correggiola, Manzanillo, and Hardy’s Mammoth. Olives are handpicked from May to July, with a community event called Groove in the Grove celebrating the harvest. Their cool-climate extra virgin olive oil, known for low acidity, has consistently ranked high in quality tests, including a 1990s CSIRO study that highlighted Tasmania’s top olive oils.
