Kotetsi Estate
Kotetsi, meaning "chicken coop" in Greek, began as a small property in 2005 that Nick and Eveleen transformed by planting olive and fig trees to reconnect with their Greek heritage. The property was originally home to just a few fruit trees, but has since matured into a thriving small farm. Since their first harvest in 2013, they've maintained a tradition of hand-picking olives with family and friends—using gentle plastic rakes over tarps or picking by hand directly into buckets—now crushing and bottling their oil on-site. Their extra virgin olive oil is unfiltered and first cold-pressed, produced without any pesticides or chemicals. The orchard is irrigated with water from the Granite Belt subterranean aquifer and natural rainwater, with fresh rainwater used to wash the olives before crushing. Each tree yields approximately 20 kilograms of olives, producing roughly 2 litres of oil per tree. They have several olive varieties, some suited for pickling and others for oil production. Harvest typically occurs from April through May. Currently available through their website and select local shops in Graceville and Rocklea, they hope to eventually open a cellar door to welcome customers to their beloved farm.
