Holman Ranch
Holman Ranch, located in Carmel Valley, California, traces its origins to 1792 as one of the state's oldest continuously operated ranches. Originally part of the Rancho Los Laureles, a 6,625-acre Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, the property passed through many hands until 1928 when San Francisco businessman Gordon Armsby purchased 400 acres in Carmel Valley. The estate spans 400 acres today, featuring 100 Tuscan varietal olive trees alongside 19 acres of vineyards that produce estate wines for wine club members.
Olives from varieties such as Arbequina, Frantoio and Leccino are hand harvested and cold pressed in a modern mill equipped with a Pieralisi system to produce extra virgin olive oil. The ranch integrates regenerative practices, including water conservation through drip irrigation, sustainable dry farming methods that rely on natural rainfall and cover crops to maintain soil health, and the preservation of native habitats.
Olive oil tastings are available Thursday through Monday, 12 PM to 6 PM, at their vineyard and winery tasting room in Carmel Valley Village. Their extra virgin olive oil is available exclusively to wine club members.
