Ekološka kmetija BEM
Ekološka kmetija BEM Sabadin began planting olive trees in 1980 on the Strmec hillside above Koper, Slovenia, initially as an amateur endeavour for personal use. By 1992, 360 trees had been established, but a 1996 frost necessitated replanting, leading to the cultivation of around 800 trees of various varieties to date. The operation has since developed a professional dimension, with olive oil marketed under the family brand BEM, derived from the initials of Boris, Elvis, and Matej, representing three generations. The farm adheres to organic production standards certified by the EU and holds a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, ensuring cultivation and processing occur within the same geographical area. Annual national and international awards recognise the quality of their extra virgin olive oils, including varieties such as Belica, Cuvée, and rosemary infused options.
