Bovalina
Bovalina Olive Oil Group is a family-owned business founded in 2002 by Carmine Bovalina, his son Angelo, and son-in-law Anthony. The family initially cultivated 40 olive trees—frantoio and correziola varieties—at their Penfield Gardens home in the 1960s, later expanding with an additional 1,500 trees planted in 1997. Carmine began his Australian life as a market gardener, helping his father grow tomatoes alongside the original olive trees, before establishing himself as a Merchant Salesman at the Adelaide Produce Market and running a produce packing operation from home called Bova-Pak. By 2007, Carmine left the packing business and the Adelaide Produce Market to form the Bovalina Olive Oil Group with his son and son-in-law. In 2016, Carmine stepped back from day-to-day operations, allowing Angelo and Anthony to lead the business into its next chapter. The company now oversees more than 300,000 olive trees through a share-farming model.
Bovalina processes its extra virgin olive oil on-site using modern equipment, including a state-of-the-art Alfa Laval machine, and operates a 24-hour harvest schedule to ensure freshness. The operation maintains HACCP and SQF food safety certifications.
In October 2021, Bovalina opened its on-site retail store at 492 Robert Road, Penfield Gardens, enabling the business to showcase its full range of products—including extra virgin olive oil, olives, olive dips and dukkahs—with customers. The store is open Monday to Friday until 4:30pm.
