Agrolaguna
Agrolaguna, a leading food company in Istria, produces extra virgin olive oil under the Ol Istria brand alongside wines and cheeses from their 1200 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and grasslands. Their Porečka maslina olives, nurtured under the Istrian sun, yield monovarietal oils from Pendolino, Rošinjola, Ascolana, Picholine, and Črnica varieties that capture the region's soil and climate. These autochthonous Istrian products emphasise the highest quality standards. Numerous international awards recognise their commitment to excellence in local traditions.
The Ol Istria extra virgin olive oil is cold-pressed to achieve an oleic acid content ranging from 0.08 to 0.2 percent, with the oil described as the golden green jewel of Istrian olive growing. It is noted for its high nutritional value, aromatic complexity, and a well-balanced profile of piquancy and bitterness, presenting a green to yellow colour with a pleasing thickness. This quality has been recognised internationally, most notably with a Gold award at the 2025 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality competition.
Beyond olive oil, Agrolaguna operates across three production divisions. Their wine portfolio includes the Vina Laguna and Festigia brands, with a collection of 134 medals from international wine competitions across varieties such as Malvazija Istarska, Teran, Merlot, and Chardonnay. They also produce Istarski sir Špin, a distinctive cheese that reflects the unique terroir of Istria. The company was established in 2004 and has recently become part of the Badel 1862 group following acquisition from Fortenova Group.
