River Grove Olives Chemlali

River Grove's Chemlali olive oil comes from Tunisian-variety trees grown on the family's Wairarapa grove along the Ruamahanga River. The olives are harvested in early winter using mechanical means for mature trees and hand picking for younger ones. The fruit are pressed into a certified extra-virgin oil showing a slight bitterness and an versatile character that's suited to salad dressings. The 2025 harvest earned a gold medal and Best Reserve in Boutique at the Olives New Zealand awards.
