Mia Elia Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mia Elia Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made mainly from the indigenous Kolovi olive in the family's Koumaries and Veranda groves near Trigonas, in the Plomari district of Lesvos. The family hand-picks the fruit from late October to December and takes it promptly to the mill, where the olive paste is processed at no more than 27°C before the oil is separated by centrifuge.
The producer describes the oil as intense, fruity and full-bodied, with balanced bitterness and pungency and a discreet aftertaste. The trees in the two groves date from the replanting that followed Lesvos's frost of 1850.
Mia Elia has received Quality awards at the London International Olive Oil Competition in 2020 and the Berlin Global Olive Oil Awards in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
